Exposure to a surface that many others come in contact with can increase your risk for developing plantar warts. You should also avoid walking around barefoot, especially on surfaces that are warm and moist; these are the types of environments that the human papillomavirus is drawn to. Be sure to wear footwear whenever you use a public pool or locker room as well.
